Photoblog…Indian pitta

The Indian pitta is a small, colorful bird, semi nocturnal in nature

It breeds, mainly in Himalayas ,and a migratory bird to forests in karnataka

Usually seen,on the floor of forests, trying to find, insects, earthworms ,among the fallen leaves

A very shy bird….it is more often heard…than seen…

Every bird watcher dreams of seeing one, because of its stunning colors,we were lucky to see him/her on both the days in #ganeshgudi

It gets its name from Telugu language…in which pitta means small…in Hindi it is also called navarangi or the bird with 9 colors…sometimes called 6 o'clock bird…as it is most often seen either at dawn or at dusk…the bird is also mentioned in Sanskrit literature & is called chitrak…which means a painted bird…

It is one of the most beautiful birds I saw…and the way the green, yellow, orange ,red blends is something to be seen…seeing pitta a rarely seen bird, for all three days,in ganeshgudi ,has been one of my best …#birding experience …:))

A few lines…r may be you can say my thoughts…about this tiny bird…..

It is all silent…just before the dawn……………………………..

The sky…is all dark blue……..

Waiting for the first rays of sun……..

In that quietness….there is a gentle rustle ….of the fallen leaves…

As my gaze…tries to find…what it is…

A sudden flash of umpteen colors…and …a small stunning bird…

Hops..&…hops…&hops

Before I can even react…to this beauty….

The shy bird…just vanishes……!!!!!

Yess…that is the Indian pitta bird…one needs to see it..& experience it
