A journey…weekending…

Rained heavily all through..

It was cool..& all drenched & washed..

Thought about the lakes …somehow was sure they would be all full..

Packed some food…coffee…& just left home..

Wasn’t sure where we were driving ..which destination..

Where is the end point..

But knew …the drive would be beautiful…

Once out..on road…whatever we were thinking …was actually true…

It was a green & water everywhere world …

Mayflowers swayed …waterbirds werebusy..

Lakes were brimming with happiness …

With fresh muddy rainwater…

Colourless water…was all colourful with reddish brown tinge..

A dying parched lake was alive…

And all her residents…were so glad to be back…

A Pygmy goose…herons…ducks..& many others..

Thought this would be the ideal coffee stop,,,

It was ..,some pretty pics..& then started moving further….

One lake after other…all full…what a sight it was..,

Very heartwarming & feel good sight …

Found a new idli shop..& it wasn’t bad at all..

Drove past Kanakapura..to reach sathnur…& the landscape greener & greener..,

Happy faces..of villagers…relieved that drought predictions…mayn’t be true..

Happy cattle…sheep…birds..happy grazing time…

Reached a quaint templevillage…the dirty kabbalamma…very popular with all..

There was an aura there..& if you are a believer..you feel that divinity…

And water had breached the little ponds …reached on to roads…

Time for sandwich…watching the soft ripples..listening to a robin’s lilting song…& rainkissed breeze..blowing ..

Hit the road again…and reached a beautiful spot….

A huge waterbed…which was dry since 2-3?yrs..

She had last filled up 16 yrs back..

Friday rains…in the night..in a span of 4-5 hrs…

She was overflowing…

There was a bit of damage to crops..but it didn’t matter…villagers ..were thinking of the next stress free 24 months..

Lots of pictures…a little talk with villagers..

Found a quiet corner…had our packed lunch ..tasted so much better…

Touched the cold muddy water…as I washed the plates…something so touching about it…

Satisfied…packed everything…started to drive back home..

Was getting cloudier by then..another night of rains perhaps ..

Every journey big or short…

You will find something new ..

You pick up something..

And a solid memory stays with you forever I guess …

And for that to happen…one should linger on at some random stops …through the journey..

May be a coffee stop..or a photostop..or a lakestop..

Enjoy the moments …

If the path or drive is picturesque…one shouldn’t worry…where it will lead to..

And there is no rule one had to reach the end…

A little journey..a little drive..a little village ..a few tiny moments…is all you need..to feel refreshed..

As William Wordsworth said..

Take a break(rest) & be thankful….

Flowers of the month!

Often wonder what if there were no seasons?

It would have been so boring.. more than anywhere else..it would have been felt in a garden…

Imagine having jasmines all through the year..

Or carnations…always…

Every month..it is a bunch of different blossom…

Either in the little green patch..or on the trees of neighbourhood..

January it is pink flowers ..

May..mayflowers ..

February..jacaranda..

Like wise at home ..

One month it is asters..

Next it is roses..

Then some random wild flowers..

Everyone has their own likes..

Few like me..love all…

And to some one who takes of her/his gardening..there is no preference..even a weed looks beautiful..

Right now….amongst many ..my gardens mayflowers..are these..button roses & yellow wild flowers …
A thought always…this quote is that..

“What a desolate place would be a world without a flower! It would be a face without a smile, a feast without a welcome. Are not flowers the stars of the earth, and are not our starts the flowers of the heaven.”

– A.J.

Flowers ….Pure, undiluted, untouched joy.”
