Kunthi Betta

For quite some time we were thinking of going to this hillock…very near to Chikkade…tiny village from where my husband comes from…

So last weekend..we clubbed it along with keretonnur…

As we drove towards the place…the landscape changes…& the range of rocky hills are seen

Being July…and traditionally a wind month….all along it was swaying coconut trees…which greeted us….

At the foothills…is a quaint & quiet village….

Passed through it…& parked near a water tank…

Being Sunday….there were quite a few holiday folks…

Each group doing different stuff..

This family were celebrating with a lunch….

An other family was doing a pooja…

When I got out of the car…the hill which looked not so big..was right in front of me…in all glory

Rocks and more rocks…with patches of lush green..

This particular rock..caught my attention…people of all ages…using it as a slide..

Kids were enjoying…

As I gazed ..I realised…that this huge rock…was a place for many happenings..

A loner with his mobile

Two little girls sliding!

Boys..shall be boys…

Girls shall be girls…

An young couple in their own world..and Vijay recollecting his childhood days…

Oblivious to everyone else…the good old monkey was enjoying a jackfruit…

The myth is this hills are named after kunti ..mother of pandavas..while in exile they lived here…& the town nearby is named after pandavas as pandavapura…

The history says…French troops were stationed here…tippusultan ..who ruled this area..had taken their help..during British Invasion ..

So it is also called French rocks …

Would like to go another day…perhaps on a working day…when there will not be many people..

Sit with a cup of coffee..& get lost in the world of those rocks…
