Forest floor

Have you walked on a forest floor…

Just like that?

I do it …not real forests..one isn’t allowed..

But somewhere..where wilderness still remains..but within the village limits..

But..,

Tread slowly …

Watch the forest floor..As you walk…

Feel the wetsoil ….

See the different textures ..

Take in the many scents…colours…

And notice those little living things…which you might not even care to appreciate…

Forest floor..,is mysterious…one never knows what to expect…

It is soothing…

It is calming…

It is full of life…

Walk your way…through woods..

Just make sure…not to crush…someone tiny ..& delicate…

Love….live…& let live

Red silk cotton tree

Woods…look extra green & pretty in February…,

Just the right warmth..

Just the right rains..

Just the righ light…

And forest floor is covered with many fallen flowers ..

One of them is red silk cotton flower…

I somehow like them more than the other flowers…

May be the colour..

May be the structure.,

May be the way they are arranged..

And the tree is bare as far as the leaves are concerned..,

It is just these gorgeous red flowers…

Unlike other flowering trees…

They aren’t crowded..,

Just in a orderly manner they are there on the twigs …

On a bright noon…

When you lift up your head & see this lovely tree against the backdrop of blue skies …

It is a feel good sight

Karighatta drive

A cloudy morning…took a detour on bangalore Mysore Road…

And drove up this beautiful hillock..,

Had been seeing for a long time …

The winding roads up the hill..with green shrubs ..& tall green grass…(locally called dharbe used for a ritual…& makes nice fodder too)

As you drive higher & higher…on a cloudy day…the floating clouds caress you…

Make sure you sit with your car windows open…

The scent of the hills is different ….

The temple is the abode for Vishnu ..

He is called as bairaagi Vishnu …

Bairaagi is mendicant meaning a person who begs…although I never felt so…

Mythology says…it could have been a part of Ramayana ..

History says…Britishers had their watch point here…before attacking Tippu sultan …
It is a great de stressing point…

Park your car..visit the temple..& with a cuppa just sit …watch the world go by from top..see those butterflies…lots of them …

Listen to the wind…see the floating clouds…

Song birds for company…

Watch the young couples romancing!

And the rivers…a mosque like structures where tippus last remains are there…

As you drive downhill …& join the main road…

Like me I’m sure you will say to yourself..

I’m going to come back here…

From top….tippus resting place..lokpavani river..sadly not a droptall grass cover the hills
